Neuro Event Labs Receives CMS New Technology Add-On Payment (NTAP) Approval for Nelli® Seizure Monitoring System
Neuro Event Labs, a medical technology company developing AI-powered solutions for seizure monitoring, today announced that the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved the Nelli® Seizure Monitoring System for the New Technology Add-On Payment (NTAP) for fiscal year 2027.
Under the NTAP program, eligible Medicare inpatient cases involving the use of Nelli may qualify for a maximum additional payment of $975 per case, effective October 1, 2026, the beginning of CMS fiscal year 2027.
The CMS decision follows the November 2025 U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance of Neuro Event Labs’ proprietary Seizure Monitoring System. This milestone establishes Nelli as the first and only FDA-cleared video-based, AI-powered device for seizure monitoring.
The NTAP approval marks another significant milestone for Neuro Event Labs and Nelli, supporting broader access to automated seizure monitoring for patients in U.S. hospitals. CMS determined that Nelli meets the applicable requirements under the alternative NTAP pathway, including the applicable cost criterion for its FDA-cleared indication.
Supporting more accessible, objective, and automated seizure monitoring
Nelli is designed to support healthcare professionals in the monitoring and characterization of seizure events.
The system uses automated analysis of audio and video data to identify epileptic and non-epileptic seizure events with a positive motor component and provides objective information to support clinical review.
Nelli also captures audiovisual data that can assist qualified healthcare professionals in characterizing seizures and peri-ictal events, supporting more informed clinical assessment and review.
