Nelli for Patients
-
How does Nelli work?
Nelli is an audio-video recording system for the detection and quantification of movement during periods of rest.
-
Where is my information stored?
Raw media data (audio/video) is temporarily stored in an encrypted format on the PRU (Personal Recording Unit), where it is pre-processed to extract only periods likely to contain clinically relevant activity. Data is transmitted via a secure internet connection to Nelli software running on a remote server.
-
How is my data protected?
Nelli stores and processes protected health information and is designed to protect this information at every level. Nelli records, processes, and provides secure access to audio/video (raw media) recordings of patients to clinical professionals. Throughout the process the data is held securely, protected, and not shared with any external parties.
-
Does the recording unit need to be connected to the internet by WIFI or cable?
No, the PRU is connected automatically to the internet via a built-in modem.
-
Who will see the video?
Assigned experts of Neuro Event Labs are allowed to access the data, review the recordings. Findings are available for your treating healthcare professionals.
-
Is the camera on all the time?
In a home environment, the PRU is manually controlled by the patient or caregiver. In a hospital environment, the PRU automatically starts and stops recording based on a schedule set by the hospital staff.
-
Should I try to start recording if I feel a seizure coming?
Yes, it would be recommended if possible.
-
Is the camera noisy?
No, but it may produce a soft whirring sound, similar to a quiet laptop.
-
Do I need to wear anything special?
No, a Nelli recording does not require any wearables on the patient.
-
Can I leave the room, for example to go to the toilet during the recording?
Yes, absolutely. The system has been developed so that it does not interfere with daily activities.
